Rule of thirds

Out on an excursion to Bingham falls I decided to complete the rule of thirds photos. The waterfall here when hit by the sun is absolutely stunning, how though is it best to portray that beauty through a photo. Should I focus on centering the waterfall or showing the falls and the rippling water at the bottom. Here are the two shots that I choose to do. The first is the water fall centered the second is the same waterfall in the right third (and a little up) of the photo. I do like the second one as it focuses the attention on not just the waterfall but the rippling water as well and how beautiful the whole scene is.

  1. I like the first one better because we get to see where the waterfall starts and ends even though I like the mysteriousness of the second one because we don't know how big that waterfall is.The first one also shows a beautiful forest and I really like that :)

  2. I like the second photo the best. I think it gives the photo more depth with the waterfall more in the background and the view of the pool. Perhaps a photo taken "in between" would have worked as well. That way there would have been a view of the entire waterfall as well as the pool beneath. Beautiful photos regardless!
